Still, There is Joy
Botanical: Gomphrena Globosa
Pressed: October 10, 2026
Medium: Plaster with Wild Clay Wash
Dimensions: 8” x 4”
The Practice
A practice of remembering, noticing, and welcoming joy.
Hold the piece in your palms. Notice its weight and take a few unhurried breaths. Let each of the three blooms offer somewhere for your attention to rest.
The first bloom · A joy remembered
Bring to mind something that still makes you smile. A person, a place, an ordinary afternoon. Recall one detail and spend a moment there without rushing.
The second bloom · A joy noticed
Think of something you enjoyed today, however small. The warmth of your coffee. A familiar voice. Something growing in the garden. Give it a moment of your full attention.
The third bloom · A joy anticipated
Consider something you look forward to. It might be something already planned, or a small pleasure you could make time for tomorrow.
Some days, one bloom may be enough. You can return to the others another time.
Before setting the piece down, quietly say:
“There is joy I have known, joy I can notice, and joy still to come.”
There is joy to be experienced in the present moment simply by recognizing it.
