What Nurtures Us - Goodbye to The Gram

i look at the bees and watch them with their fluffy wings filled with pollen work so hard to keep them hovering. they get their nutrients from the flowers i brought back from flagstaff one summer day. a dark butterfly floats through the air in the most blissful way, just finding her way and being ok with what nectar she finds. nature knows what nurtures them.

i ask myself, “do i know”? well, yes, I do. then why do i feel so depleted most of the time?

and why do i continue to go back into the toxic relationship with social media the way i do?

it feels like there is no choice - how sad is that? will people forget about me? is it worth spending hours setting up a shoot, photographing it, editing, and sharing all to get 1000 views and 20 likes? seems a bit unbalanced which is the feeling it leaves me every time. and empty.

so, here we are. i will be parting ways with instagram today. no more stories, posts, and mindless scrolling. it is time for some hard core, soft mental discipline. the gram is not the place for my work, it belongs somewhere that is created with value and love. my website will now hold all the sharing and “content”.

this feels more nurturing - not only to my soul, but my art.

i am excited to have time to dedicate to what matters. my newsletter will of course let you know what is happening, studio musings, new artwork, and of course my drops. hopefully you are signed up for that! if you are not you can do so on the bottom of the pages on the site.

there are many exciting things coming up that i cannot wait to share with you.

take care and stay in tune with yourself, that is the most nurturing thing we can all do for ourselves.

with love,

jocelyn x
