The Grounded Creative Editorial
As I type this there is so much going on within this site that it makes me overwhelmed with gratitude. Not only for the work that I personally have put into getting here, but to my mentor, Kim Klassen for designing this beautiful site for us.
The last calendar year has brought me a lot of growth within myself, my art, and my business. All of them I cherish and will never take the growth for granted.
There was something missing though - it was as if it was a distant candle in the dark, always glowing, ready for my to walk closer to really feel the flame.
Before I begin, let me ask you, have you ever felt a bit “flat” emotionally and creatively and just wanted to pick up a book and feel soothed? Not in a escape mode way but a place you could be that was not judgmental or critical? I found myself going to my favorite books and instantly feeling a sense of relief.
Could I be the only person who ever felt this way? I think not.
So, one night I asked myself a question (I always do this) before I fell asleep - it was, “what could I do to continue my creativity but have it be more meaningful”? I woke up with the answer. The Grounded Creative was born, at least in my mind and in my heart.
Creating a magazine publication has been in the works for a long time. I don’t have the reach that some creatives do on IG and I am not about to change myself to get there. So, being in a publication probably isn’t in my near future. So I decided to create my own. And I did it overnight. The entire concept was having a conversation with the creative soul of my life’s work.
So, with that being said, The Grounded Creative is a monthly publication that will be available to everyone, compliments of me on January 6th right here on the website.
The January edition is all about getting over the stimulation of constant calls to buy, sell, create, be, do, act, perform, all of it. It is an issue meant to soothe - not stimulate.
The following months of February, March, and April will be $55 fee for all 4 months. Each one will hold tutorials, never seen before images of my work for that month, exclusive access to collections before the general public, practices & tools you can use to enhance the creative conversation within yourself.
The editorial was born out of the desire to be helpful - not in a way that creates separation, but in a way that I could maybe hold a space for you to remember how creative you really are - before the world casted its shadow on your heart. I want to remind you that even though it all seems overwhelming at times, we are all here to live a wildly creative life if we choose it. This is synonymous with a peaceful heart and a calm mind.
We can learn to stay in the conversation with ourselves one day at a time.
I hope you will join - I will still be on IG but not as much because all my efforts will be focused on creating amazing collections for you to adore. My goal is not to be the top seller or get a container from France - my goal is have peace and joy in my life and share that with you.
Thank you for being here. For reading. For trusting the quieter way.
With love,
Jocelyn xx
